Behind Every Product Lies a Beautiful Local Story!
La Chocolaterie des Pères Trappistes de Mistassini
A local initiative
It was in 1939 that a group of citizens from Dolbeau formed a committee for industrial initiatives: one for wood, another for clothing and the last for food products.
From this initiative was born a confectionery shop which would become the ancestor of the Chocolaterie you know today. Equipment was then purchased to make a candy called "the lake candy".
It was in 1978 that the Chocolaterie was officially incorporated and its name changed to the one of today: La Chocolaterie des Pères Trappistes de Mistassini.
In the fall of 2023, with the Fathers being few in number and elderly, they left the region but in order to ensure that the Chocolaterie's activities continued, the company was bought by two Chocolaterie employees.
Joel Lavoie, Plant Manager and Bruno Lefebvre, Finance Manager at the Chocolate Factory, have decided to join forces and dive into this adventure as new equal co-owners.
